Why design-build

Most remodels go sideways in the gap between the design and the crew. We close that gap by keeping both on one team.

What we remodel

Full remodels, start to finish.

We focus on projects where design and construction have to work together. One conversation, one plan, one crew.

How a project runs

Four steps, no surprises.

Because the same team carries the project the whole way, nothing gets lost in a handoff. Here is how it goes.

01

Talk it through

We come see the space, listen to what you want, and talk honestly about budget before anything is designed.

02

Design the plan

We lay out the space, choose finishes with you, and produce drawings and a clear written proposal. You approve it before we build.

03

Build it

Our crew does the work, pulls the permits, and keeps the site clean. You always know who is in your home and where the project stands.

04

Walk it together

We finish the punch list with you, not around you, and you do not sign off until the work is right.

The difference

When the designer and the builder are the same people.

The usual remodel splits the work in two. A designer draws something beautiful, then a separate contractor prices it and tells you half of it is out of budget. Design-build skips that fight. The plan is priced as it is drawn, so what you approve is what gets built.

One point of contactThe same team from the first sketch to the final walkthrough.
Budget from day oneThe design is built around your number, not against it.
Fewer surprisesChanges are talked through before they happen, not billed after.
Built by the plannersThe people who drew it are the people who build it.

"They walked us through the whole design before any work started, so there were no surprises once they got going. The finished kitchen is exactly what we pictured."

Questions homeowners ask.

If yours is not here, call or text and we will give you a straight answer.

What does design-build mean?

It means one team designs your remodel and builds it. You are not hiring a designer, then bidding the drawings out to a separate contractor and hoping the numbers line up. With KAZ, the people who draw it are the same people who price it and run the job, so the design stays inside the budget from day one.

What kind of remodeling do you do?

Kitchens, bathrooms, basement finishing, room additions, and whole-home renovations across the south Salt Lake Valley. We focus on full remodels where design and construction need to work together rather than small one-off repairs.

Which areas do you serve?

KAZ Design + Build is based in Riverton and works throughout the south end of the valley, including Herriman, South Jordan, Bluffdale, Draper, Sandy, and West Jordan.

How long does a remodel take?

It depends on scope. A bathroom is usually a few weeks of construction, a kitchen longer, and an addition or whole-home project longer still. We give you a real schedule before we start and keep you updated as the work moves, so you always know where the project stands.

Do you handle the design and the drawings?

Yes. Design is the first half of design-build. We help you lay out the space, choose finishes, and produce the drawings the build runs from. You see the plan before any demolition begins.

How do you handle pricing and the budget?

We talk about budget early, before the design is locked, so the plan is built around a number that works for you. You get a clear written proposal that lays out the scope and the cost, and we talk through any change before it happens, not after.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. KAZ Design + Build carries the licensing and insurance required to remodel homes in Utah. We are glad to share the details when we meet.

Do you pull permits?

Yes. When your project needs permits and inspections, we handle them as part of the job so the work is done to code and signed off properly.

Can we stay in the house during the remodel?

In most cases, yes. We set up dust protection, keep the work area contained, and clean up at the end of the day. For larger whole-home projects we will talk through what to expect before we start.
